Number 656

This morning I took a trip to the DMV. With my quarter life birthday approaching, it was time to renew my license. Even though I have until the end of April I thought I would go today so I could cross it off the "to do list."  Brian said when he went last summer he was in and out in 15 minutes so I thought giving myself a half hour was plenty of time. Honestly, I've always had a pleasant experience at DMV.

Today, was a different story. I went in with a positive attitude but quickly realized that was silly of me.  It does not surprise me that the people that work there are less than thrilled to be there. With no reading materials and no breakfast, I sat quietly in my seat for over a half hour completely silent. "There has got to be a quicker way to do this" I thought. Apparently not. Just as a bond started to form with the people around me as we commiserated my number was called-an hour and a half later. When I arrived at the counter it became very clear why things take so long. My representative was more concerned about the draft overhead and the new elderly representative at her side than she was taking care of me. Thank goodness I don't have to go back for four more years!
